To "remove" quickly strikes during the fight is important to know how to find the point of contact with the aggressor during the action.

It is one of the most interesting, important and at the same time difficult things in the art of combat, regardless of the styles.
Defense from blows is represented by two concepts: “the plane of the blow” and “the defensive plane” (the surface of the reception of the blow).

  • The strike plane is the trajectory of the attacking strike of the opponent with or without weapons. The trajectory can be very complex, so the strike plane does not necessarily follow a straight and conventional line.
  • The defensive plane is the space that can be represented by a limb of the defending person during the approach of the attacking object and the completion of the defense.

The angle of contact, or the angle between the plane of the blow and the defensive plane, must not exceed 10-15° at the moment of contact. No more than 15-25% of the energy of the blow is used for defense, while the rest is transferred to the counterblow and is used to “load” (expel) the opponent and manage him. Contact is made with the inside or outside of the fingers of the hand joint. After contact, the attacking hand or object slides along the defensive line. The change in angle of contact is achieved by rotating (pronation and supination) the hand along the longitudinal axis on the meeting or accompanying movement. This allows the trajectory of the attacking hand (object) to be changed using the minimum amount of energy. Let’s look at a concrete example. Raindrops, when falling, hit a hard surface (the sloping roof of a house) and bounce off it (rebound or backlash) at a certain angle and continue their fall in another direction. In this way the flow of rain is divided and the force of its impact during the fall on a flat surface decreases. The top of the triangle provides a clear representation of the position of the point of contact at the moment of aggression. Sensing the level of aggression of the opponent, the body receives an instant signal about the subsequent actions. After the initial contact there is the possibility of creating a slight pressure (a “knot” of forces) right at the beginning, then giving way and creating a vacuum, that is: without breaking contact with the aggressor, move the vector of forces in the necessary direction according to the principles of loss of balance.
